Fibre broadband comes to North Leigh

on 22 February 2014 - 7:22pm

Lucky residents of North Leigh village will soon be able to order "superfast" broadband from BT. Sharp eyed residents have noticed new roadside cabinets being installed in the village indicating that fibre has been pulled into the village and equipment installed.

Residents of North Leigh parish further afield can only look on enviously at the moment. New Yatt, East End and Wilcote are unlikely to be included in the upgrade. At least for New Yatt the reason has become obvious - the old BT cabinet that serves the entire village is in fact about a mile outside of the village.

Better Broadband for North Leigh

on 16 April 2013 - 8:26pm

Gigaclear came to talk to the Parish Council at the meeting on the 11th April. They provide Next Generation Broadband to rural communities provided the community can guarantee a 30% uptake of the service (40Mp/s).

Given the woeful broadband available from BT in North Leigh, New Yatt and East End, I am keen to organise a local group to campaign for better broadband. If you are interested, please contact Greg at gm@northleigh.org
