Demand better broadband

on 6 June 2013 - 6:38pm

Living in the countryside should not mean having to put up with a sub-standard internet connection. Broadband is becoming increasingly important in day to day living, whether it is for shopping, entertainment, communication or working from home. At the moment, a rural location means compromising on all of these. But it doesn't have to be this way. It is possible to get "super fast" broadband (Super Fast is defined by BDUK as a potential access speed of 20Mb/s or more) right now.

We are campaigning to bring a fibre-base broadband network to all residents of North Leigh, New Yatt and East End. To achieve this, we need to get as many expressions of interest as we can to demonstrate that at least 30% of the community population wants a better service.

As a rural community we have a higher proportion of self-employed people and home-based businesses. We have more need for better communication facilities than those that live in towns and cities and yet we will be the last to get better broadband. If we demonstrate our desire for a better service we can install something that will future-proof for years to come by providing fibre-optic direct to your home.
